AMO1 TOWER / REDUX
Field recording is a very personal and singular activity. The pandemic years of 20/21 provided a perfect opportunity to dedicate myself more deeply to the practice of listening and exploration. From those excursions i collected a vast library of sound and set about extracting the compelling bits and composed them into newly imagined landscapes publishing them in my short run cassette tape "FIELD" series.
I find rhythm most anywhere i listen and catch myself drumming on every available surface. While out recording i cant help but to hear percussive pulses, booms and clacks... This record began while beginning to compose more rhythmically with some of those sounds... rain drops, doors closing, bird song, struck steel yard pipes and more.
I originally had no intention of reviving my old AMO1 project but these new arrangements didn't quite fit into the straight forward field recording mixes I'd been performing around town. Some of these shows were a little more like DJ sets and in an effort to produce a compelling 2 hour long set I also started digging thru files and folders from my early 2000's project " A Minority of One" to pull out some of the more relevant pieces/tracks and began re-mixing/imagining them. This record is a mix of completely new material composed almost exclusively using sounds i captured out in the wild and radically new versions of a few of those older tracks...
